The Studio
Ember & Ink opened on Magazine St in 2016 with four artists and a simple belief: tattooing done at a serious level requires serious working conditions.
Ember & Ink opened in New Orleans in 2016 as a collective of four artists who were tired of working in shops that prioritized volume over quality. The name comes from the studio's founding idea: the ember is the spark of an idea, the ink is the permanent commitment to it. Most tattoo decisions live in the space between those two things.
Today we have eight artists working across all major tattooing styles, a private consultation room for longer design sessions, and a waiting area that doesn't feel like a doctor's office. The studio is OSHA bloodborne pathogen certified - a certification we maintain through annual training, not just initial coursework.
We don't do flash on a tight timeline. Every tattoo starts with a consultation - either in person or by submitting reference images through our contact form - where we match the project to the right artist and establish realistic expectations about sizing, placement, and timeline. Some pieces can be done in one session; some require multiple.
We don't negotiate on hourly rates, and we don't promise the cheapest option. What we can promise is that the artist working on you is genuinely skilled in the style you chose them for, uses single-use needles, sterile pigments, and autoclave-sterilized equipment for anything that doesn't come pre-packaged, and takes the aftercare conversation as seriously as the tattoo itself.
